Call for papers - Special issue of "Intelligent Transport Systems and Pervasive Systems that Humans Co-create with AI"

April 4, 2025
Editorial Committee of the Journal of Information Processing

Journal of Information Processing (JIP) is pleased to announce the call for papers for a special issue of “Intelligent Transport Systems and Pervasive Systems that Humans Co-create with AI.”

The relationship between humans and computers/machines is changing at an unprecedented speed, with the practical application of automated driving technology in many areas of the world, advances in V2X communication technology, and the development of AI technology as represented by LLM and the expansion of its use. In addition, the continued expansion of the use of drones and other technologies in military conflicts around the world and the lack of digital utilization in disaster prevention highlighted by the Noto Peninsula earthquake are creating a series of issues that we cannot turn our eyes away from in the use and application of technology. On the other hand, given the global trend of declining birthrates and aging populations, AI technology is essential for achieving further technological and social development with limited human resources. There are high hopes that AI will improve labor productivity by increasing operational efficiency and well-being by changing the way we use mobility and IoT systems.
In mobile and intelligent transport systems research, proposals for higher performance, functionality, efficiency, and reliability through technological innovation have been the main focus. Still, as the world changes, we have begun to focus on research that considers the value of physical mobility for social issues. In Volume 65, Issue 6, we have planned a special issue on “Advanced Transport Systems and Pervasive Systems for Recreating the Value of Mobility,” and in Volume 66, Issue 6, “Mobile Computing and Advanced Transportation Systems for Connecting and Creating Various Realities” to encourage discussion on the new era and society. In light of the expanding role of AI, we call for papers on a wide range of topics for this special issue, including papers focusing on how to incorporate AI technology into intelligent transportation systems and mobile systems, as well as papers on safe and secure mobility for people in the modern age, promotion of mutual understanding among people, and creation of new value.
In the special issue of “Intelligent Transport Systems and Pervasive Systems that Humans Co-create with AI,” the program committee seeks papers related to intelligent transport systems, mobile communications, and mobile computing especially focusing on the following topics, but not limited to:
・Mobile Communication System (Architecture, Protocol, Management, Security)
・Sensor Network, Information Appliance / Home Network, Ad-hoc Network
・Communication Media (6G, Beyond 5G, 5G, Wi-Fi, C-V2X, Bluetooth, ZigBee, IrDA, DSRC, Digital Broadcasting)

Submission Guidelines

(1) All papers must be submitted electronically. Please access the following URL and proceed under the submission instructions:

https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ipsj

Once you have submitted your manuscript, you cannot change it.
So, you must submit the final version of your manuscript.
If, by mistake, you submitted a wrong version, please contact the IPSJ secretariat <s1m-at-ipsj.or.jp> (Replace -at- with @).

In the event you would like to make a submission, you must first create an account on the paper submission Web page. For detailed information, please refer to the manual available from the link “Instructions & Forms” at the top of the submission page.

(2) All papers will be reviewed. The review process will be carried out in the same manner as regular issues. However, you have shorter time than usual (eight weeks) for preparation of your responses to inquiries.

(3) Submission deadline is August 29, 2025.

(4) The special issue will be published on the J-Stage website in June, 2026. Preprint will be published on the IPSJ Journal in June, 2026.
